How many years is the service life of a gas detector?

2024-08-26

Gas detectors are the same as other objects. They all have a certain service life. If a gas detector exceeds its service life, it needs to be replaced. However, in actual applications, there are many types of gas detectors, that is, different types of gas detectors have different service lives. So how many years is the service life of a gas detector?

1. The gas detector needs to be calibrated regularly. When the instrument is used for one and a half years, the measurement accuracy will decrease. At this time, it needs to be returned to the factory for recalibration. Don't damage the sensor because of temporary convenience.

2. The service life of a general gas detector is 5 years, but it does not mean that all gas detectors can reach 5 years. Only by using the instrument in the right field and performing daily maintenance can its service life be guaranteed to be about 5 years. After the instrument exceeds its service life, it must be replaced with a new detector.

3. The sensors used in instruments for detecting the concentration of some combustible gases are mostly catalytic combustion sensors, which generally have a service life of 3-5 years. In addition, the life of the gas detector (including fixed gas alarms and portable gas alarms) sensors is also closely related to the gas concentration exposed in the environment.

4. The service life of an electrochemical gas detector is generally about 2 years. After more than 2 years, its performance needs to be tested. If it does not meet our testing requirements, the detector needs to be replaced. In addition to testing whether the sensor is aging, the instrument needs to be calibrated. And the corresponding standard gas calibration instrument needs to be used correctly.

The above content about the service life of the gas detector is shared here. The service life of the gas detector will be affected by many factors such as sensor type and environmental conditions. In order to ensure the accuracy and reliability of the gas detector, it is recommended that users regularly check and maintain the sensor according to the manufacturer's recommendations, and replace it in time according to actual conditions.
